Dorothy Witcher

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel for Dorothy Grady Witcher, 87, who died Friday, September 3, 2010. Rev. Lauil Thompson will officiate with burial to follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral Home and Cremation Services directing.

Mrs. Witcher was a member of MeadowBrook Baptist Church and served in the nursery at Calvary Baptist Church for 22 years. She loved children and shared her home and love with many children. Kent, Michael, Brian, Krista, Monica, Christian, Judd, Molly, Alex, Melissa and Burke were entrusted to her care and she loved them all.

Mrs. Witcher was born October 17, 1922 to the late Walter Scott and Annie Pearl Hester. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, J.D. Witcher; brothers, Harvey and Harold Hester; sisters, Mildred Lankford, Hazel Sims, Kathryn McCombs, Margaret Sims and Doris Hollingsworth.

She is survived by daughters, Gail (David) Guest and Judy (Sandy) Willis; grandchildren, Mark (Sidney) Guest, Matt Guest, Cammie (Manu) Sancheti and Holly (Blake) Garrett; great grandchildren, Spenser, Cade and Ian Guest and Shaan Sancheti; brothers, Clyde, James, Excell and Hardee Hester; and special friend, Jo Battles.

Pallbearers will be Mark Guest, Matt Guest, Cade Guest, Ian Guest, David Guest, Sandy Willis, Brian Snell and Blake Garrett.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
