She was born on Oct. 9, 1931, in Tupelo, Miss., the youngest daughter of Glen and Margaret McCullough. While at Harding College in Searcy, Ark., she met her husband of 59 years, Jack H. Mitchell. They married Dec. 20, 1950, and the rest she lived as devoted wife, committed mother and grandmother and servant to her Lord Jesus Christ.
She would be described as careful, interested, interesting, faithful, true and loyal. Her passions were her family, her church and the helpless. Her treasure is in Heaven.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Mitchell Sr.; her brother, Glen McCullough; her sister, Mary Formby; her sons, Jack Jr. and Ken; her grandchildren, Jack III, Nathan, Jonathan, Amber, Josh, Nicholas, Jake and Alli; her great-grandchildren, Jessica, Jacob, Grant, Luke, Anna Sophia and Noah; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her church families at Fairview Church of Christ and Central Church of Christ.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 this evening at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 21, 2010, in the Chapel at Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, please send gifts to Child Haven Orphanage, Cullman.
