

Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Edward “Ed” Loring, 84 of Gadsden, who passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014. Ray Baker will officiate. Burial will be at Walker’s Chapel Cemetery in Fort Payne. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Loring retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company after 31 years of service. He served in the Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he was awarded the Korean War Service Medal. He was a member of Gadsden VFW post 2760.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jake Loring; mother, Ursula WiWi Loring; grandson, Benjamin Ray Baker; great-grandson, Seth Strait; sister, Rita Geoders; and brother, James Loring.
Mr. Loring is survived by his wife of 48 years, Renelda Smith Loring; children, Scott (Neva) Loring; Lisa (Ray) Baker, Debra (Allen) Ferguson, Larry Wells, Roger Wells, and Johnny Wells; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters; Margaret Onkin, Liz (Jim) Reinders, Alberta Spurlin, Annabell Walker, and Pauline Loring; brothers Larry (Jeanne)Loring, Ray (Carol) Loring, and Frank (Shirley) Loring; and special buddy, Shaggy.
The family will accept friends from 10:30am-12:30pm Wednesday prior to the service.
