Edward McWhorter

A Memorial service will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 12:30 pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Edward Elling McWhorter, of Jacksonville FL, formerly of Gadsden, age 50, who passed away May 15, 2021. Rev. Larry Fuhrman will officiate.

Mr. McWhorter graduated in 1988 from Westminster and in 1999 from Auburn University, Montgomery and furthered his education in the US Army, becoming a Physician Assistant. He served as a P.A. stateside and in Iraq. He retired from the US Army in July, 2016 as a Captain. He was a big Auburn fan and was known for his dry sense of humor and loving, gracious, giving heart.

Mr. McWhorter was preceded in death by his father, Terry McWhorter; grandparents, J.M. and Lurleen McWhorter; and grandparents, Rudolph and Bea Elling.

He is survived by his mother, Pamela McWhorter; wife Angelena McWhorter; beloved daughter, Dr. Storm (Corey) McWhorter Jackson; also loved children: Dakota Leslie, Micah Redding and Miranda Redding; stepchildren, Dalton Harvey and Hannah Harvey; brother, David McWhorter; and sister, Valarie McWhorter; nieces and nephews, Claire McWhorter, Marlie McWhorter, Tyler Pankey and Zachary McWhorter.
