

Elizabeth Wilson Gibbs, age 80, of Southside, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, May 13,2023 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scott Hassell and Rev. Jerry Ponder will officiate. Burial with follow at Rainbow Memorial Gardens. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
Elizabeth was a nurse at Gadsden Regional for 42 years. She worked in the ER, ICU, CCU, 8th & 9th floor. She loved working in her yard, spending time with her family & friends as well as her animals, Daisy Mae, Lizzy Mae, Raven, and Peppie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lula Bell and John Bunt; Her adopted parents, Gladys and Seldom Wilson; she loved her husband of 34 years, Gary Joe Gibbs; daughter, Sabrina Gibbs Conner; special friends, Fred McCarty, Howard Hall, Delite Cruit, Alex Cook (Caroline's Dada); adopted sister, Jeanette; beloved dogs, Maggie Mae and Tequila.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughter, Belinda Gibbs Childress; granddaughters, Skyler McGee, Ashley Hulsey, Sondra (Michael) Lintott, and Lexi Childress Duncan (Dakota); great grandchildren, Harper Knowles, Caroline Cook, Jade, Kyra, and Christopher Lintott; and her special beloved fur baby dogs, Daisy Mae, Lizzy Mae, and cats, Raven and Peppie.
Pallbearers will be Michael Lintott, Brent Hester, Brad Hester, Mark Yancy, and Jimmy Roberson, and Shane McGee.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Deborah Reiland and Dr. G Patel and their entire staff as well as Riverview and Gadsden Regional nurses and staff; her best friend, Jerri Fuhrman, Niece Karen Harris, Queen Kynard, David and Patty Clokey, Nancy Bolton, Becky Moon; Hope Hospice and nurses Kara and Jay; nurse aid Lori, Mark and Sharon Yancy.
Family is accepting flowers and plants as well as donations which may be made to First Baptist Southside and Etowah County Animal Shelter.
The family will accept friends from 9 AM until the hour of service at the funeral home on Saturday.
