

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. (today) Sunday, May 6, 2012, at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Evelyn Ford Burford, 92, Gadsden, who passed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Friday, May 4, 2012. Rev. Mike Allums will officiate with burial at Young’s Chapel Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services Directing.
Mrs. Burford was born and raised in Ford’s Valley and Webster’s Chapel. She lived in Gadsden most of her adult life and attended James Memorial Baptist Church for more than 60 years. She loved making heirloom quilts, ceramics and had won the beautification award for her gardening skills. Mrs. Burford cherished family functions and enjoyed being with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Emmett J. Burford
Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, C. Gaylon (Betty) Burford and Maxwell (Vicki) Burford, grandchildren, Tyrus Burford, Tara Hatchell, Marty (Ashley) Burford, Kevin (T.J.) Burford and Judson Burford, great-grandchildren, Emma, Luke, Lily, Jake, Cale, Eli, Campbell Burford, Taylor and Tanner Hatchell, sisters, Betty Jean Phillips, Sue Crowe and Edna Baker, brothers, Larry Joe (Shelia) Ford and Pat Ford, several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Norman Youngblood, Will Wilson and Jesse Bonds.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to James Memorial Baptist Church.
The family extends special thanks to the staff at Gadsden Health and Rehab, nurses and staff of Southern Care Hosice, and nurses and staff of MICU and 9th floor at Gadsden Regional Medical Center
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
