Everly Rose Garrett, age 5, took her last breath on this Earth on Monday, March 16, 2026. Everly passed peacefully at The Benjamin Russell Hospital for Children surrounded by family after a lifelong battle with a rare genetic condition.
Everly was born on September 29, 2020. She was the daughter of Summer and Taylor Garrett and a wonderful big sister to her little brother, Easton Garrett.
Everly is preceded in death by great-great grandparents James Marion Penny Senior, Mary Elizabeth Penny, Jack Allen Wagnon, and Jean Wagnon, and great grandparents R.J. and Marie Usrey, Donald Richard Garrett Senior, Doris Ann Garrett, and Charles Gore.
Everly is survived by her loving parents Summer and Taylor Garrett, younger brother Easton Garrett, grandparents Cristy Herron, Johnny Gore, John Herron, Donny and Jama Garrett, and Claude Hardeman, great grandparents Norma and Bill Schiffman, and Deborah Gore, aunts and uncles Autumn and Will Hardeman, Paden Herron, Austin Amos, Jesse Hardeman, Teresa Baranick, Mary Garrett, Brayden Garrett, Andrew Gore, Hunter and Rhi Gore, cousins Marina Amos, Remington Amos, Michael Baranick, and Starr Nailer, and many more loving family members.
Everly was born with Schinzel-Giedion Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder. Despite her diagnosis, Everly lived an abundant life, bringing joy to everyone she met. She was a light in an often-dark world, and she taught us all how to love more gently, deeply, and wholeheartedly. She enjoyed bright colorful lights, spa days, and family vacations at Disney World. Her favorite Disney rides were Frozen, Living with the Land, and Haunted Mansion. Everly also loved watching Disney movies such as Frozen and Tangled, relaxing in the pool, and listening to her favorite lullabies. She enjoyed foot rubs and leg massages from her GiGi, and hearing her loved ones sing to her. Everly’s most favorite thing of all, was snuggling with her mommy.
Though Everly’s life was unfortunately burdened by much sickness, she also experienced a life abundant in love, joy, and beautiful memories. Even though she couldn’t speak, you could always tell when Everly was happy because she would suck on her tongue; even many of her ultrasound pictures showed her in this manner. When you placed your finger in her tiny little hand, she would hold on tightly as if to say, “I love you”. She enjoyed having her precious feet massaged, but if you tickled her toes, she was sure to let you know. Though she couldn’t utter a word, she spoke to the depths of our hearts. Though she couldn’t walk, she left her footprints in our souls. Though her life was full of dark days, she brought so much light into our lives. Though we are heartbroken over the loss of sweet Everly, we are rejoicing in knowing that our little angel is now walking, talking, and resting with Jesus.
Services for Everly will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 pm. Service will be held on Monday, March 23, 2026, at 2:00 pm with graveside service to follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Southside. Pastor Tommy Marshall will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Will Hardeman, Jesse Hardeman, Claude Hardeman, Johnny Gore, Andrew Gore, and Austin Amos. Honorary Pallbearers will be Hunter Gore, Michael Baranick, and Brayden Garrett.
To honor Everly’s beautiful life and the light that she brought into ours, the family requests that guests attending her visitation and funeral services wear light-color spring attire in place of traditional funeral attire.
Everly’s family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the healthcare professionals at Children’s Hospital who took such amazing care of Everly throughout her many stays there. It takes special people to care for sick children, and the hospital staff were attentive, compassionate, and truly a blessing in Everly’s time of need. Additionally, the family wishes to thank each person who continuously checked on Everly, shared encouraging words, donated to help with various expenses, and prayed for sweet Everly Rose. Though these sentiments cannot bring back what has been lost, they serve as a reminder that even in the darkest of days, we are never alone.
To our precious Everly Rose,
Though our hearts are shattered over having to say goodbye too soon, we are overjoyed to know that you are fully healed, happy, and whole. You are no longer suffering and in pain, you are resting in the arms of Jesus. While the days ahead will feel long and lonely without your gentle sighs, we will find peace in knowing that you are finally walking, running, singing, and doing all the other things in Heaven that you were unable to do here on Earth. We can’t wait to witness you doing all of these things when we see you again one day.
Until then, rest easy and always remember how much we love you, sweet Evie Rose.
