

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 27, 2015 at Convention Hall for Frankie D. Vines, 84, of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2015. Rev. Steve Smith and rev. Van Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Lincoln Hill Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Frankie was educated in the Coosa County and Etowah County school systems. He was a member of the American Legion Post 322, Masonic Lodge, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed singing and telling stories.
Mr. Vines was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lillie Mae Vines; brother, Fred Vines, Jr.; sisters, Rosie Lee Vines-Smith and Alma Vines; granddaughter, Melissa Benjamin; and great-grandson, Diante Benjamin.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Vines; children, Linda Benjamin, Lillie Maetta Smallwood, Francina Vines-Stover (Rick), Angela Newton (Freddie), Felecia Townsend (Danny), Regina Vines-Wright; other children included: Frankie L. Eastwood, Francesca Eastwood-Lowe (Rossi), and Chana Vines-Johnson (Trevor); honorary daughter; Yvonne Major; nephews, who were like sons, James F. Smith, Amos “Chuck” Smith(Mary), George “Joe” Smith (Pat), and Michael Smith (Wol-Hui); step-brothers, Sammy Holstick, Jr. (Lillie), and Bobby Lee Wilson; and host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jathan Aaron, Braundon Vines, Daniel Townsend, Jr., Draeshon Wright, Jurell Harvey, Jahtzee Meadows.
Honorary pallbearers are Adrec Wright, Daniel Townsend, Sr., and James Foster Smith.
Special thanks to Dr. Akisanya, Dr. Ghandi; nurses: Linda Timmons, Connie Byers, Francine Robinson, Alice Avery, Jazmine Fikes, and Preston Miller; and Heather of Southern Care Hospice.
The family will accept friends from 2:00-6:00pm Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the funeral home.
