JACKSONVILLE – Funeral services for Mr. George Thomas Hughes, 65, of Jacksonville, will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Cody Mashburn Burns will officiate. Burial will follow at Arrington’s Chapel Cemetery in Cherokee County. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.

George left this world of pain and sorrow on Sunday, February 2, 2014, at Piedmont Healthcare Center.

He is welcomed into heaven by his mother, Lillian Devine Mashburn; father, John Thomas Hughes; and brother, Ed Mashburn.

George is survived by his brothers, Bobby Mashburn (Jewell) of Jacksonville and Ellis Mashburn (Jenny) of Ohatchee; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Pallbearers will be Allan Mashburn, Eddie Mashburn, David Mashburn, Lyn Mashburn, Randy Parris, and Billy Burns.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Piedmont Healthcare Center, Collier-Butler Funeral Home, and to a special niece, Mary Wisdom, for her care and support of George.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at Collier-Butler.
