Mr. Pope is survived by his wife, Frances Lynne McKelvey Pope and sons, Jeremy Ryan Pope, Kevin William Pope and Jordan Phillip Pope. He is also survived by his father, Robert Frank Pope; sister, Lisa Pope Brasher; and brother, Darrin Scott Pope.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Smith Pope and grandparents, George Frank Pope and Veo Lovvorn Pope. All were natives of Gadsden.
Mr. Pope was self-employed since the age of 24 as co-owner of Abston Communication in Atlanta, Ga. and later sole owner of Discount Tire Exchange in Gadsden. He was presently retired and living in Gadsden.
Services will be held at noon Thursday at St. James Catholic Church, Gadsden, with Father Gray Bean officiating. There will be a visitation at the church at 11 a.m., prior to the funeral.
Pallbearers will be his sons, Jeremy, Kevin and Jordan Pope; his brother, Darrin Pope; brother-in-law, Scott McKelvey; and long-time friend, Richard Hayes.
The family asks that donations in Mr. Pope’s memory be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, in lieu of flowers or plants.
