Greg was a man of true faith, strong conviction, and selfless giving. He was a preacher of the King James Bible. He was the pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Gadsden, Alabama for 15 years. He was the owner of Bledsoe Construction where he created many partnerships and friendships in his community. Whether behind the pulpit or on a job site, Greg poured his heart into people and to everything he did. Greg’s personality was larger than life. He never met a stranger—just a friend he hadn’t talked to yet. He could be described as the nicest mean guy you have ever met.
He was a devoted husband of 22 years to his bride, Katie, and a proud father to eight children: Kayla, Austin (Lauren), Brooklyn, Elijah, Caleb, Nathan, Levi, and Abigail. His greatest joy came from his family, and his love extended to his grandchildren: Claire, Emersyn, Blakely, and Thomas.
Greg’s legacy continues through his father, Norman Bledsoe of Williamsburg, KY; his sister, Dona Bowlin (Virgil) of Williamsburg, KY; his brother, Rob Bledsoe (Ericka) of Rocky Mount, NC; niece Alaina and nephew Garrett. He is also mourned by his in-laws, Arlen and Pat Holderread of Plymouth, Indiana; brother in law Andy Holderread (Lindsey) & children, along with a host of extended family, church family, and lifelong friends who were touched by his passion for life and his deep compassion and love for others.
A proud veteran, Greg served honorably in the Indiana Army National Guard as a E5 Sergeant and achieved his associate’s degree to become a respiratory therapist. he became a conductor for CSX Railroad before answering a much higher calling. He and Katie surrendered to full-time Christian ministry, pastoring at Chapel Hill Baptist and later serving at Reclamation Ranch. Since Feb 14th, 2010, Greg faithfully led Grace Baptist Church, where his preaching and Godly counsel made a lasting impact.
Greg accepted Christ as his Savior at the young age of 6, on December 31st,1979 and was raised in a Christian home. At just 15 years old, he answered God’s call to preach while attending Camp Victory in Somerset, Kentucky. Greg did not always choose the easy path, but God faithfully pulled him back in the right direction. He lived his life as a testimony of God’s grace, redemption, and forgiveness. Greg's life verse is 2 Corinthians 10:6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Georgia “Cookie” Bledsoe; his maternal grandparents, Jr. and Marie Rowland; and paternal grandparents, Coy and Berniece Bledsoe.
