Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Helen Irene Thompson, 87, of Gadsden who passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016. Rev. Sherri Reynolds will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Mrs. Thompson grew up in Attalla and graduated from Etowah High School. She married James E. Thompson, February 6, 1954 and had a son, James E. Thompson, Jr. and a daughter, Pamela Irene Thompson. She was an Air Force wife until 1969 when they moved back to Gadsden where she spent most of the rest of her life.She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Thompson, son, James E. Thompson, Jr., parents, Joe and Katie Oliver, brothers, Joe and Billy and sisters, Corrine and Winnie.She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Thompson Walker, son-in-law, James Walker, grandson, Jason Walker, granddaughter, Jennifer Eberts, great grandsons, Matthew and Luke Walker, great granddaughter, Katie Eberts, brothers, Charles Oliver and James Oliver.Pallbearers will be James Walker, Jason Walker, Matthew Walker, David Oliver, Fred Chastain and Charles Oliver.The family would like to extend special thanks to Aunt Claudia and her staff for the hospice care and companionship they provided mother/neenee in her finals days.

The family will receive friends from 12 pm until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
