

Jack was born to Maxine and Leonard Roberts on August 14, 1941. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Thomas Roberts.
Jack played basketball on scholarship at Walker Junior College for two years and then served briefly in the United States Army. Jack graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University in 1965. He accepted a position with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron, Ohio. With Goodyear, Jack helped build plants in Jamaica, Northern Ireland, Brazil, and Fayetteville, North Carolina, before settling with his family in Gadsden for the remainder of his career. Jack retired as the manager of engineering at Goodyear in 2000. After he retired from Goodyear, he worked with Max Staffing for another five years.
Throughout his life, Jack exemplified a deep commitment to serving others and strengthening his community. He was a respected member of the Gadsden Civil Service Board, where his integrity and leadership left a lasting impact. He was also an active member and past President of the Kiwanis Club, striving to make our community a better place. His heart for mentorship and faith was especially evident in his dedicated service with Way of the Cross ministries and in his role as a Sunday School teacher. He served with distinction as Chairman of the Board at Central United Methodist Church and was a longtime member of the Board of YoungLife Gadsden.
Jack was a faithful member of MeadowBrook Church. He loved his Sunday School class and always read the Sunday School lesson ahead of time. He and Barbara were also active in the Open Hands ministry at MeadowBrook.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Russell Roberts; brother Leonard Roberts (Kay); sons Lee Roberts (Kara), Andrew Roberts (Kathy), and Stan Roberts (Alex); and his grandchildren Linton Roberts, Anderson Roberts, Anne Roberts, Everett Roberts, John Hiller Roberts, William Roberts, Hastings Roberts, and Manning Roberts.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, April 7th, at MeadowBrook Church. Visitation will be at 10:00 prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Jack Roberts to YoungLife Gadsden (P.O. Box 204, Gadsden, AL 35902), or to MeadowBrook Church (2525 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901).
