

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, March 30, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home in Gadsden. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. The service will be led by Pastor Eric Johnson. No graveside service will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Collier-Butler Funeral Home.
Jackie was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and a graduate of Etowah High School, Class of 1958. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Jacksonville State University and later obtained her master’s degree in education from the University of Alabama.
Jackie dedicated more than 43 years to education. She began her career at John Jones Elementary and General Forrest and later taught physical education at Gadsden State Community College. During her time there, she taught tennis, table tennis, and weightlifting, and was especially fond of her role as cheerleading coach. Jackie loved her vocation and took great pride in being a teacher. She was deeply passionate about her calling and poured her heart into shaping the lives of her students, leaving a lasting impact on many.
She was active in her community and a member of the Red Hat Society. Jackie enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Paden Baptist Church and later East Gadsden Baptist Church, where she faithfully nurtured her children’s love for the Lord and their personal relationship with Christ.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Ross Moore; her mother, Lillie Bell (“Pat”) Moore; and her sisters, Faye Hamilton and Adalia Browning.
She is survived by her children, Joey (Kelly) Carmack and Carol Carmack; her beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Chandler, Michael (Hannah) Carmack, Colter (Tiffany) Swafford, Grant Carmack, and Elijah Carmack; and her great-grandchildren, Emily, Wolfgang, Emory, Evelyn, David, Daniel, and Adeline. She is also survived by many special nieces and nephews, as well as two honorary family members, Holly Messer and Jason Dendy.
Pallbearers will be Michael Carmack, Colter Swafford, Elijah Carmack, Grant Carmack, Preston Carmack, and Brian Carmack.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at Oak Landing in Attalla, The Haven in Gulf Shores, Waterford at Creekside in Pensacola, and Emerald Coast Hospice. The family is deeply grateful for the respectful and loving care Jackie received.
