

James “Jimmy” Alford passed away on August 21, 2024 at the age of 77 years old. He was born on September 26, 1946, and was a lifelong resident if Gadsden, AL. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at 2:00pm at Collier-Butler Funeral Chapel. Pastor Billy Boatwright will officiate. Burial will follow at Crestwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 12:30-2:00 pm at the funeral home on Sunday prior to the service.
Jimmy was an employee of Gulf State Steel for 36 years and still enjoyed meeting with his former co-workers and friends once a month for breakfast. He loved going to estate sales and participating in the “world’s longest yard sale” every year. He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels cars and admiring vintage cars. He dearly loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Mary Alford; children, Gregory Alford and Scott Morgan; and siblings, Randy Alford and Carol Hughes.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Jennifer Alford; children: Ricky Alford, Lori Alford, and Kimberly (Michael) Taliaferro; grandchildren: Holly Alford, Katie Alford, Destiny (Mario) Morgan, Devin Taliaferro, Celeste Conway, and Jaymie (Daniel) Blankenberg; great-grandchildren: Brayden, Tatum, Lydia, Carson, Aero, Blexton, and McKinley; and brother, Pete Alford.
Pallbearers will be Michael Taliaferro, Devin Taliaferro, Mario Watson, and Robby Wilder.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the doctors and staff of Gadsden Regional Medical Center, Pastors, Billy and Brenda Boatwright, and Pastor, Gary Williams.
