

Gadsden native, James (Jamey) Emmitte Hardin, III, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2020. Jamey was a skilled machinist, industrial boiler maker, as well as a pipe fitter by trade. He served his country as a Green Beret/ Special Forces on several campaigns including “Operation Just Cause” and “Desert Storm.” He was awarded service ribbons and awards on both campaigns. He served in the seventh Special Forces Group from 1988-1992 and twentieth Special Forces Group National Guard from 1998-2002. He was awarded Army Commendation, Expeditionary Medals, National Defense Service ribbon, several letters of commendation, and achievement from the U.S. Army as well as 2 letters of Honorable Discharge post Desert Storm.
Jamey was a beloved father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend.
Jamey attended Jessie Dean Smith Elementary School, Disque Junior High School, and was a 1983 graduate of Gadsden High School. He was an avid NASCAR and Alabama Football fan.
He is preceded in death by his precious daughter, Kara; as well as Maternal and Paternal grandparents.
Jamey is survived by two sons; James Adam and James Emmitte Hardin, IV; grandchildren, Raileigh Ann and Skyler James Hardin. Jamey leaves to cherish his memories, parents, Jim and Elizabeth Hardin; devoted sister, Kimberly Whorton; two brothers, Joey and Todd (Maggie) Hardin; special companion of 18 years Janice Ward; 3 cherished nephews, Benjamin (Melissa) Whorton, Scott Hardin, and Parker (Morgan) Hardin; niece, Shelby ( Steven) Barnard; and many uncles, aunts, and cousins. He was a loving “papa” to many precious grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be; Rodney Gilchrist, Randy Elrod, Scott Kilgore, Benjamin Whorton, Scott Hardin, and Parker Hardin.

Services for James (Jamey) Hardin, III will be at Collier-Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Jason Hooper officiating on Thursday, June 18, 2020. The family will receive friends and family from 1:30p.m. to 3:00p.m. Funeral services will be at 3:00p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow at Williams Southside Cemetery in Southside, Alabama.
