Jim was a Navy veteran who served during the Korean War. After his service overseas, he returned to Gadsden where he met his wife, Brenda. He started as an insurance salesman for Liberty National where he worked until retiring. Jim enjoyed his days hunting and fishing, but was most known for his mission work. He spent many years serving with the Etowah Baptist Association Disaster Relief team. He did numerous mission trips and contributed to disaster relief efforts from Hurricane Katrina to the tsunami in Japan in 2011. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and served his community mowing lawns and building wheelchair ramps for his neighbors in need. He had a servant’s heart and was well known for finding needs and meeting them. The legacy he leaves behind for others can be found in Matthew 28:19, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and The Holy Spirit.”
