Jane Hood Parker

Memorial Service for Jane Hood Parker, 83, of Gadsden, will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Collier Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Mrs. Parker passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013. The family will receive friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Collier Butler Funeral Home prior to the service.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and her husband, J.O. Parker. She is survived by her son, James Hood Parker; daughter-in-law Lee Anne Parker; granddaughter Anne (Ken) Farr; great grandson Wyatt Farr; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Born and raised in Ashville, Jane lived her adult life in Gadsden. She worked briefly at the Gadsden Housing Authority then mastered the roles of wife, homemaker and mother. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, and avid gardener and a rabid Alabama football fan.

Miss Jane loved a good conversation and time spent in her company will be missed by many. The family would like to extend special thanks to Miss Jane's many "angels", especially Peggy Ransum, Joan Bradley, Sheila Cason and Teresa Cunningham.
