Jan was born in Gadsden, AL and was a longtime resident of Calhoun and Talladega counties before moving to South Carolina. Jan was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Auburn football. Jan was happiest when spending time with her family and listening to music. She was a member of Concord Methodist Church and loved the church bible study.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Karl Hood, Sr. and Nena Raa Franklin Hood; brother, Walter Karl (Butch) Hood, Jr; nephew, Joseph Burt Hood.
She is survived by her daughter, Melissa Raa Lewis Upchurch; son in law, Jason Upchurch; grandchildren, Bailey and Grayson Upchurch, and multiple grand dogs.
Graveside services will be held at Old Harmony Cemetery 104 Lister Ferry Rd, Rainbow City, AL on October 14, 2023, at 12 pm.
