

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jerry Chandler, Sr., of Rainbow City, Alabama. Jerry was born on July 4, 1946. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert W. Chandler and Gloria G. Chandler; and his brother, Wayne Chandler.
He married his beloved wife Gloria J. Chandler in 1965 and together they had two children, Kimberly J. Sutton (David Sutton) and Jerry E. Chandler, Jr. (Susan A. Chandler). Jerry is survived by his sister, Linda Kizzire (Wayne Kizzire); his sister-in-law, Glenda Chandler; his five grandchildren, Melanie A. Holmes (Jon M. Holmes), William J. Chandler, Jacob A. Chandler, Chandler S. Lang, and Michaela R. Sutton; and his two great-grandchildren, Greyson C. Castillo and Weston C. Holmes.
Jerry served in the United States Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer and retired after 22 years of service. Furthermore, Jerry also served 22 year with the Social Security Administration. In addition to his professional work, Jerry was actively involved in the Gideons International society and he was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. Jerry was also active in the Tennessee Disaster Relief. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his kind heart, and his dedication to serving others.
Jerry's funeral service will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home on Monday, February 10, 2025. The family will be receiving visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am and the funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Following the service, Jerry will be laid to rest at the Alabama National Cemetery (Montevallo, AL) at 02:00 pm. The graveside service will be open to friends and family.
