
Funeral Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Sunday-January 16, 2011 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Jerry Travis Kirkland , age 82 of Dadeville formally of Rainbow City who passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2011 with all of his children by his side. Rev. Richard McCollough will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery with Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing. Mr. Kirkland was known for his love and work for the Lord. He was an evangelist. He built and pastored many churches around the area along side of his beloved brother JV Kirkland. He was owner of Rainbow City Awning and Home Improvement and co owner of Rainbow City Lawn and Garden. He moved to Dadeville, Alabama and opened two furniture stores until his retirement. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 27 years, Virginia Kirkland, brothers, Otis, Andrew and J.V. Kirkland and sisters, Ilene Hutchins and Aslee Daughtery.
He is survived by his children: Brenda (Nick) Garrard, Walnut Grove, Peggy (L.J.) Wood, LaGrange, GA, Jerry Wayne (Barbara) Kirkland, Southside, Ronnie (LaGinia) Kirkland, Douglasville, GA, Steve (Kathy) Kirkland, LaGrange, GA, Sherri Bailey, Glencoe and Steve (Laricha) Carter, Rainbow City, sister-in-law, Ila Mae Kirkland and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a special love for his dog, Baby for 10 years and caretaker Merle (Dale) Luttrell.
Pallbearers will be: Andy, Keith and Kyle Kirkland, Gary Wood, David Lee and Cody O’Bryant
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of service Sunday at the funeral home.
