Jimmy was a man who lived life with a full heart and an even fuller plate. He loved his grandchildren more than anything in this world and worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Known for his heart of gold, Jimmy was the kind of person who would help anyone in need without hesitation. Family always came first, and if something needed fixing, Jimmy was there earning his well-known title as the family’s “Mr. Fix-It Supervisor.”
Jimmy loved everything about racing, but the drag-strip held a special place in his heart. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, and gathering with family and friends for crawfish boils and cookouts. He never left a meal behind and believed food was best enjoyed together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Barbara Sue Lyles, and his first wife, Robin Lenae Lyles, who passed away in 2000.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Tiffany Lyles; his son, Brandon Lyles (Mercedes); his daughters, Haley Lyles and Hannah Lyles; and his beloved grandchildren, Adelyn Lenae Lyles, Carson Lyles, Kynzleigh Stancil, and Lainey Stancil, who were the joy of his life, and his Brother George Lyles.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m., all at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery. Bro. Gary Thrasher will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Matt Duvall, Chris Huntington, Shadrick Adams, Triston Garrison, Billy Smalley, and Casey Roden.
Jimmy “Wampus” Lyles will be remembered for his hard work, generous spirit, love for family, and the way he always showed up when it mattered most. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched, and the memories shared by those who loved him.
