

Jimmy Skipper went to heaven on October 26, 2014. He is survived by his daughter and son in law, Shannon and Ron Campbell; son Scott Skipper; Becky Cantrell; grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter and Lillie; brothers, Joe and Kathy Skipper, Jerry and Peggy Skipper, Jim and Velva Powell, Mitchell Skipper, sister Rebecca and Don Smith; seven nephews and one niece; and Jane Skipper. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Irma Skipper and his sister, June Roth.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church Gymnasium with visitation at the church parlor from 12 p.m. until the hour of service. Rev. Harvey Beck will officiate with burial at Crestwood Cemetery.
Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct.
Jimmy worked for over thirty years at Goodyear and was Vice President at Skipper Engineering. He was well known for restoring and collecting antique cars, boats and motorcycles. A great day for Jimmy meant completing a project and helping out a friend.
Thank you to caregivers and physicians at Gadsden Regional ICU, Critical Care Unit, Orthopedics, UAB, Kirklin Clinic and especially The UAB Palliative and Comfort Care Unit.
Pallbearers will be Al Kitchens, Johnny Martin, Larry Jackson, Butch French, Charlie Burnett, and Phil Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be “The Tennis Guys”.
Those who would like to honor his memory and enthusiasm for antique cars are encouraged to drive their favorite “toy”.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to any favorite charity or local animal shelter.
Jimmy never said “good-bye”; always “let me know if there is anything I can do for you”.
