
Funeral Mass for Mr. Joseph Edward Gamberi Sr., 88, of Gadsden, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden. Father Jose B. Chacko will officiate with entombment to follow at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday prior to the Mass at the church. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Mr. Gamberi graduated from Connelly Technical Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, and attended Gadsden State. He was a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving as an MP. Mr. Gamberi retired from Siemens Allis after 43 years of service.
Upon retirement, he taught electricity at St. Clair County Correctional Facility. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church for the past 60 years, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Gamberi's passion was his family, whom he loved dearly.
Mr. Gamberi was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Carmella Gamberi; brother, Anthony Gamberi; sister, Josephine Troupe; and grandson, Anthony Hudson.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 65 years, Rose Marie Gamberi of Gadsden; three children, Rose (Jay) Alldredge, Joe (Donna) Gamberi Jr., and Carol Hudson, all of Gadsden; four grandchildren, Jason Alldredge of Gadsden, Tiffany (Judson) Bailey of Trenton, GA, Blake Gamberi of Gadsden, and Laura (Nicholas) Hunter of Spanish Fort, AL; three great-granddaughters, Alexis Alldredge of Gadsden, Ansley and Charlee Bailey of Trenton, GA; and numerous other family members.
Pallbearers will be Angelo Maiello, Jay and Jason Alldredge, Blake Gamberi, Judson Bailey and Nicholas Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Knights of Columbus.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to: a special friend, Kristy Podrue; Amedisys Hospice, the staff at Caregivers On-Call, and Father Jose B. Chacko.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made to St. James Catholic Church (PSR Sunday School Classes) or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
