She was a loving and devoted mother and her grandson was the light of her life!
Although she moved to Tuscaloosa and Northport a few years ago, her heart and soul remained in Gadsden and her home on South 10th street. She cherished her friends and neighbors on South 10th.
She was retired from The City of Gadsden, and a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Gadsden. She was the oldest living member of First Baptist at the time of her death. She dearly loved her church and was a member of the Tri-T Sunday School Class.
The family thanks the former staff of LaRocca Nursing Home, Tuscaloosa, for their loving care, especially their protection and care during and after the April 27th tornado. We also love and thank Forest Manor Nursing Home, especially Station 4, for their kindness and excellent care.
Thank you also to Hospice of West Alabama and to everyone at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, especially Circle 7, for “adopting” Mother and keeping her room and heart full of cards, flowers, gifts and visits.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rupert Leon Belcher, her father Marcus Miller Pace and her mother Clyde Bishop Pace.
She is survived by her daughter Betty Belcher Shipe, Northport, AL, son-in-law Ernest A. Shipe, Northport, AL and her grandson Matthew A. Shipe and his wife Jaime Hook.
Visitation will be Friday, June 1, 2012 from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Gadsden, Hospice of West Alabama, First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa or to a charity of your choosing.
