Keith Pitman Toney

He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Erston S. Toney Jr. and wife, Sue; his sister, Nana Toney Ford; grandparents, Mr. Sylvester and wife, Nannie Pitman, and Mr. Erston S. Toney Sr. and wife, Ola.

He is survived by his siblings, Vicki Toney Shires (Steve) and Beverly Toney Kemp; the light of his life, Teresa Brackett; nieces and nephews, Stephen Shires (Jacklyn), Brian Shires (Keri), Lesley Carlson (Matt), Amanda Ford, Jessica Ford (Dillon), Christopher Kemp, Lance Kemp, Samantha Kemp and Hannah Brady; aunts and uncles, Otis Toney (Faye), Barbara Denson (Benny), and Gloria Toney.

Keith was a 1973 graduate of Emma Sansom High School. He received an Associate’s Degree from Gadsden State Community College and his Bachelor’s Degree from Jacksonville State University. Keith served 20 years in the United States Army and retired as Lieutenant Colonel. For 20 years, he was employed by Capstone Real Estate Investments, LLC as a Lead Superintendent.

A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Mt. Lookout Methodist Church. Pallbearers are Brian Shires, Lance Kemp, Greg Ford, Dillon Witt, Larry Powell and Kenny Noojin. Honorary Pallbearers are Allen Fortenberry, Steve Shires, Stephen Shires, Christopher Kemp, Carl Smith and Gerry Teal.

Keith never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will always be cherished by all who loved him.
