Kenneth Harris Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2025, at the age of 74. A lifelong resident of Etowah County, Kenneth’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for his family and community touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Kenneth was born on January 2, 1951, to John Calvin and Ozella. Over the years, he became known for his deep devotion to his family, his strong work ethic, and his genuine, caring nature. Kenneth always put others before himself.
Kenneth made his home in Hokes Bluff with his wife of 48 years Julia and his dog Booboo. He was an active member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Gadsden. For many years he worked as an over-the-road truck driver with Flower’s Bakery. Skilled in mechanics and carpentry, he was truly a jack of all trades. Quick-witted and good-humored, Kenneth enjoyed teaching, sharing stories, and working alongside his family.
Above all, Kenneth valued family. He was always willing to give anyone a loving home and often did.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Calvin and Ozella Harris; his brother, Gary F. Harris Sr.; and his nephew, Gary Harris Jr.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Julia Harris; his former wife, Mary Childers; his son, Kenneth (Kim) Harris Jr.; his daughters, Melissa (Derek) Heath and Kayla (Adam) Phillips; and his bonus daughter, Melanie (Jon) Reeves. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Josh (Katie) Harris, Zack Heath, Allison (Patrick) Miller, Gunnar Heath, Emma Phillips, Emily Phillips, and Erica Phillips; as well as great-grandchildren: Adaline, Patrick Jr., Delilah, Henry, Adalind, Dallas, and Oliver. His surviving siblings include David Harris, Gloria Gregerson, Joann Davis, Becky Ballanger, and Bill and Andria Klootwyk, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Pro Health Hospice—especially Kim and Emily—and to the staff at Grandview Medical Center for their compassionate care.
Kenneth will be remembered for his love, compassion, and generosity. His memory will live on through his family and all whose lives he touched.
Rest in peace, Kenneth. You will forever remain in our hearts.
