L. Robert Lasseter

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Mr. L. Robert Lasseter, Jr., age 65, of Gadsden, who passed away Monday, July 11, 2011. Rev. Gary Baswell and Rev. Kenneth Lasseter will officiate with burial to follow at Old Harmony Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service directing.

Mr. Lasseter was of the Baptist faith. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, was a graduate of Jacksonville State University and retired from Gulf States Steel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Louie Robert Lasseter, Sr.; and sisters, Jackie Lasseter and Gwen Shadrick.

He is survived by his wife, Melody Lasseter; sons, Michael Lasseter and Gary (Alison) Lasseter; grandchildren, Evan Lasseter, Kayla Lasseter and Alex Lasseter; brother, Sid (Brenda) Lasseter; and a host of other family members.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the VA Hospital, Birmingham.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Collier-Butler.
