
Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Lillian Winona “Nonie” McMeekin Weddington, 85, of Gadsden who went to be with the Lord Saturday, October 28, 2017. Rev. Scott Hassell will officiate. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Southside.
Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.
Mrs. Weddington was a devout Christian and a member of First Baptist Church of Southside since 1957. She graduated from Holy Name of Jesus Hospital School of Nursing and enjoyed her career as a registered nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, H. E. Weddington; siblings, Sue Griffith; Mildred Gulledge; L. D. McMeekin; Herman McMeekin; T. W. McMeekin; Guice McMeekin; Frances McGuire; Mary Wagnon and Raymond McMeekin.
Survivors include her children, Patricia A. Duke (Buddy); Michael E. Weddington and Imelda J. Weddington (Steven C. Hahn) and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express special appreciation to Chip and Willene Griffith, MD; Ken Davenport, MD; Maxine McKeown; Reba Chapman; Carol Cothran; Vivian Ryals; Anita Hill; Patsy and Bill Bowers; Lori Deerman and Dr. O. Akisanya, his nurse practioner Jennifer, and staff for their love and care for Winona.
Honorary pallbearers will be First Baptist Church of Southside and Holy Name of Jesus Hospital School of Nursing.
Winona specifically requested “instead of flowers take your family and friends out for a nice meal and celebrate your love for God and each other”
