Mac Douglas Waldrup Jr.

Graveside services will be 12:30 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Forrest Cemetery for Mac Douglas Waldrup, Jr. age 73, of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Rev. Ken Casey will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.

Mr. Waldrup was a 1961 graduate of Gadsden High School and graduated from Auburn University in 1966. He was employed by Rust engineering for 3 years and retired as President of Jones, Blair, Waldrup and Tucker after 36 years of service.

Mr. Waldrup was preceded in death by his parents, Mac and Faye Waldrup; sister, Dot Waldrup; and in-laws, Bill and Henrietta Rutherford.

He is survived by his wife, Cathy Waldrup; sons, Scott (Nan) Waldrup, and Allen Waldrup; sister, Linda Waldrup; and grandchildren, Rachel Beth Waldrup, Olivia (Jeremy) Nichols, and Dalton Hopper.

Pallbearers will be Jack Griffin, Kenny Hart, Jud Burford, Greg Gregerson, Danny Richardson, and Brent Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers are all former employees of Jones, Blair, Waldrup and Tucker.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army (114 N. 11th St. Gadsden, Al 35901)

Special thanks to lifelong friend and personal physician, Dr. Webb Sledge; Amedisys Hospice and Tiffany; the family wishes to thank Shannon, Teresa and Cece for taking care of Doug and the family these last months; the family would also like to thank their many friends for their support through calls, visits, meals, and other acts of kindness expressed during Doug’s illness.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
