

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Collier-Butler Funeral Home for Margarete Cave Hudson, 88, who passed away Friday, April 2, 2010. The Rev. Alex Beaube and the Rev. Alton Parris will officiate. Her family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Forrest Cemetery.
Mrs. Hudson was born on a ranch in Bayside, Texas, on Jan. 6, 1922, and moved with her family to her beloved New Orleans, La. when she was 4 years old. During her childhood and school years, she was known for her love of life and athletics and her passion for dance. After graduation, she served as a secretary for some of the top officials at the Army Air Force base in New Orleans, where she met her future husband, H.W. Hudson. When he returned from North Africa at the end of the war, they married and moved to Gadsden to begin a marriage that lasted 60 years.
Mrs. Hudson was a member of East Gadsden United Methodist Church for 55 years, where she served in many capacities with children in earlier years. Later, she was an active member of the Berean Sunday School class. She was a passionate golfer and and loved the time she spent with her golfing friends. Most of all, she was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother, and lived a life that reflected love.
Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Frieda Cave; her brothers, Tommy Cave, John Cave, Joe Cave; and her husband, H.W. Hudson.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Carolynn Hudson, Berkeley, Calif.; her son, Tommy (Jane) Hudson, Gadsden; her grandchildren, Tom Hudson, Atlanta, Ga., and Elizabeth (Scott) Roberson, Sylacauga; her great-grandchildren, Makenzie and Connor Roberson and Hanna Hudson; her brother, Harry Cave, Phoenix, Ariz.; and many friends.
Pallbearers will be Barry Robinson, Rod Robinson, Jimmy Adams, David Sewell, Larry Mynatt and John Williams.
