
Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, November 11, 2016 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Marion White “Dick” Thompson, age 91, of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016. The Reverend James E. Elliott, Jr. and Drew Hall will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Thompson was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter and a graduate of Etowah High School. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a caregiver and friend to all she knew. Mrs. Thompson loved shopping, the Atlanta Braves, and her dog Peanut.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. & Mrs. James L. White; brother, Avery White; and sister, Ruth White Silvey.
Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband of 71 years, Warren C. Thompson; children, Jimmy (Martha) Thompson, Dianne (Russell) Poore, Terry (Kelly) Thompson, and Karen (Alan) Hall; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary George Hyde; brother, Bill ( Margie) White; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Rusty Poore, Chris Poore, Drew Hall, Nick Thompson, Blair Perry, Benny Roberts, and Tyler Coggin; and special friend, Joey Clark.
