

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 4, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Marvin Eugene Walker, 80 of Gadsden, who passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015. Services will be officiated by close friend, Dr. Gary Ashley and Pastor, Able Garcia. Burial will be at Howelton Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Marvin was a graduate of Walnut Grove High School class of 1953. He attended Gadsden Business College and served in the Navy USNR. He worked for Western Union and Independent Insurance, and retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield after 21 years of service. After he retired from Blue Cross he loved playing golf at Gadsden Country Club with his buddies. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Kay Bigham Walker; parents, Lora and Terry Walker; brother, Travis Walker; sister, Carolyn Henderson; and brother-in-law, Calvin Henderson.
He leaves behind his wife, Virginia Walker; son, Lee (Tammy) Walker; daughter, Libby (Randy) Blackwood; granddaughters, Ashley and Katie Blackwood; step-daughters, Felicia (Reggie) Arledge and Amanda (Frank) Spigner; step-grandsons, Cole Arledge, Clint Arledge, Aaron Spigner and Andrew Spigner; great-granddaughter, Etta Faye Arledge sister, Janice (Bert) Lister; and sister-in-law, Louise Walker.
Pallbearers will be great-nephews: Rhett Lister, Zachary McClung, James Walker; and step-grandsons: Cole Arledge, Aaron Spigner, and Andrew Spigner.
Honorary pallbearers are James “Slick” Slichenmyer, and Bill Burnett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in Marvin’s memory a donation be made to White Springs Baptist Church Building Fund in Rainbow City.
