Born in 1929, Mary Lee Blanchard, was 1 of 5 children growing up on a farm in Lavonia, Georgia. The family farmed, picked cotton, and raised livestock, like most of those days. She accepted the Lord, Jesus Christ as a little girl and always had long and deep conversations with Him. Being the adventurous type, at 16, she moved to Atlanta to attend an all-girls school for a time, attended Berry paying her own way by working in the sewing room, and graduated from the first dental assistance school in Atlanta in 1953. Her careers were in the dental field, veterinarian assistant, and as a breeder of Scottish Terriers, she traveled the country and showed at West Minister. Her real passion was flowers. Flowers and her family. The welcoming party at heaven’s gate included her mother, father, brother, husband, and beloved grandson. Mother's wishes were to be cremated and we will honor her wish. She is survived by three sisters: Margaret Sewell, Pat Burts, & Judy Salter and her daughter Mary Jane Anderson. Services for her will be private for family members. In leu of flowers, you can honor her by sending a donation to Service Dogs Alabama. She was especially proud of the puppies we raised that went into the program.
