

Matthew Stephen Misko, 33, of Rainsville, Alabama went to his heavenly home on December 26, 2017. Matthew was born in Anniston, Alabama and moved to Gadsden in 1990 entering the first grade at St. James Catholic School. After graduation he went on to St. Bernard Preparatory School in Cullman and then on to Auburn University. He moved to Montgomery and finished his Bachelor Degree in Biology and Environmental Science at Auburn University Montgomery. He was employed by Renfro Mfg in Ft. Payne Alabama until a few months before his death.
Matthew was preceded in death by his brother Craig Joseph Misko. He is survived by his wife Cori and chosen son, Elik, of Rainsville; his parents Mary Ann (Molly) Misko and Robert (Bob) Misko of Rainbow City; his brothers Curt Misko (Martha), Mark Cheek (Maria), Christopher Shade (Paige) and Samuel Misko (Blair); his sisters Cyndi Misko, Celeste Misko (Jodie), Julie Rietze (Alan), and Mary Barbee and his beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and beloved family in Rainsville.
The celebration of Matthew’s life will be a Funeral Mass at St. James Catholic Church in Gadsden celebrated by Fr. Jose Chacko and concelebrated by Fr. Marcus Voss on Saturday, January 6 at 11:00 am following visitation at 10 am. In the afternoon, there will be internment at the St. Bernard Monastery Columbarium in Cullman.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Matthew's brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. James Catholic School, St. Bernard Preparatory School, and the College Counts 529 Fund established for Matthew's son at Alabama Teacher Credit Union. There is also a Community for Recovery from addictions called Our Lady of Hope in Blountsville, Alabama which relies on God's providence and receives donations at hopereborn.org.
The family wants to express their gratitude to the Dekalb County Ambulance Service, the Dekalb Regional ER staff and Erlanger MICU caring and compassionate nurses and doctors in Chattanooga.
