Merriel Annette Mayo

A private graveside for the family will be held. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate.

Bagpiper will be Wayne Hammond. Collier-Butler Funeral Home will be charge of arrangements.

Annette was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and attended Emma Sansom High School. She was employed by Gadsden City School Systems for many years. She volunteered at Gadsden Regional Medical Center with MANA. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.

She was a fun, sassy lady who enjoyed being passenger on Kenneth’s Harley Davidson, never met a stranger, loved family gatherings and always had on her lipstick. She was kind and selfless. She loved God, her family and others unconditionally. She was known by many as “Nana” and Kenneth and her dad as “Scoot”.

Annette was preceded in death by her parents George and Bonnie Lee, her daughter Lisa Anders, her first husband and father of her children, Doug Blackwell, her great grandson baby Henry Douglas Boozer, and her late husband Kenneth Mayo.

Annette is survived by her sons Lenny (Melissa) Blackwell, Brent (Brandy) Blackwell; grandchildren Lee Smith, Drew Blackwell, Bradley Anders, Megan (Blake) Boozer, Bevin (Logan) Payne, and Caden Blackwell; step sons Jack (Cheryl) Mayo, Ken Mayo, and Jacob (Jennifer) Mayo; step grandchildren Mallory (Eben) Leeman, Zack Mayo, Hailey Mayo, Anna Mayo, Jackson Mayo, Brittany Watts, and Caleb Watts; great-grandchildren Braden Boozer, Kace Smith, Samuel Smith, Hudson Hill, Brylee Payne, Rubie Anders, and Emey Payne; sisters Carrie Chambers and Deborah (Dennis) Mitchell; sister-in-law Mary Frances Gilchrist, and lots of special nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons

The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Judith Quilon, NP Bethany Anders, Nurse Sophia Patrick, and CCU SICU director, Emily Emmanuelson.

The family will accept flowers or donations can be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 5295 Fairview Rd, Gadsden, Al.

The family requests that those invited follow CDC Covid-19 guidelines while attending.
