
Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 21st, at Collier Butler Chapel for Mrs. Mona Crim Stewart, who went to be with Jesus on January 19th, 2016. Reverend Melvyn Salter and Reverend Eddie Nations will officiate.
Mona was born in Gadsden, AL, but had resided in Centre, AL since 1986. She was retired from Engineering and Shipping, Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, after 35 years. She was a graduate of Gadsden High School, where she was member of the GHS marching band. She was a member of the Antiquarian Society of Gadsden, where she held the office of chaplain. She was also a member of the Centre Twighlight Club. Mrs. Stewart attended the First Baptist Church of Centre.
She is survived by her best friend and beloved husband of 61 years, Thomas Wright Stewart; one loving daughter, Monica Stewart Wesson and her husband Jay Wesson; three precious grandchildren, Meaghan Stewart Williams, Thomas Michael Williams, and Lacey Jae Wesson. She is also survived by her beloved in-laws Don and Connie Stewart, the late Brenda Stewart, Bill and the late Sylvia Stewart, Alan and Lunette Stewart, Glennell and the late Frank Ramsey, Delsie and Jerrell Yother, Cordelia and the late Jim Ruth, Aunt Cleo Goss, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Mona was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and Pelham Crim, and her in-laws Cleva Dell and Mitchell Stewart.
Pallbearers will be her grandson and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Christine Steed Adult IV Sunday School Class, “The Coffee Club’, and all loving and faithful friends. Special thanks to Dr. Iyer, Goodyear Clinic, Dr. Lucian Newman, and Dr. S. Palmar.
Visitation at 12pm, with service beginning at 2 pm, at Collier Butler Chapel. Burial at Forest Cemetery.
