

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Ashville First United Methodist Church for Nick “N.L.” Bowlin, 69 of Ashville, who passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Rev. Lonnie Wadsworth will officiate. Burial will be at Ashville Cemetery. The family will accept friends Friday, July 31, 2015 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Nicky graduated from Ashville High School and Jacksonville State University. For over 45 years Nicky was an accountant and also owner of Bowlin McCain Supply in Ashville. Nicky coached little league football, and baseball and was a former Scout Master. He severed a term as Councilman for the City of Ashville. Nicky was a member of Ashville First United Methodist Church. Among Nicky’s hobbies was a love of collecting and fixing classic cars and collecting signs, bottles and other memorabilia. He also enjoyed playing “Santa” for many years for cities all over St. Clair and Etowah counties.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Earl Glen Bowlin; grandpa, Earl Lee Bowlin; and grandmaw, Robbie Lucille Bowlin.
Nicky is survived by his wife, Susan Bowlin; children, Gunnar (Kim) Bowlin, and Robin (Katie) Bowlin; grandchildren, Nicholas (Ashley) Bowlin, Katie Bowlin, Rhett Bowlin, and Hunter Bowlin; mother, Anne “Meme” Bowlin; brother, Phillip (Jill) Bowlin; sister, Sissy (Sonny) Peterson; and several other family members.
Pallbearers will be B.J. Price, Chris Hill, Phillip Bowlin, Gunnar Bowlin, Robin Bowlin, and Nicholas Bowlin.
Honorary pallbearers are Billy Mashburn, Bill Hale, Don Curtis, Jerry Curtis, and Steve Spencer.
