Olivia Johnson Killian

Funeral Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Collier-Butler Chapel for Mrs. Olivia Johnson Killian, age 86, of Gadsden who passed away Monday, April 19, 2015. Rev. John Killian will officiate. Burial will be at McNutt Memorial Methodist Church Cemetery, Ft. Payne. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services will direct.

Mrs. Killian was a 58 year resident of Gadsden and a member of First Baptist Church Gadsden. She had been a volunteer with the Smeltzer Educational Center since its inception in 1988 and served on the Board of Directors. Mrs. Killian was an avid gardner, quilter, painter and a wonderful cook. She was a graduate of Atmore High School and attended Gadsden State Community College.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years Thomas Eugene Killian and parents, James Leon and Josephine Ladyfair Johnson.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Killian Byers and husband Keith, sons, Thomas Blake Killian and Wesley Alan Killian, grandchildren, Jonathan Killian Byers and wife Jennifer, Zachary Thomas Byers, Jessica Renee Killian, Kelly Jean Killian, great grandchildren, Cheyanne Grace Killian, Brayden Hunter Pope and Theodore Churchill Byers and special friend and caregiver, Nina Blyth Killian.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Byers, Zachary Byers, Darrell Johnson, Myron Hall, Michael Nelson and Hilbert Hall.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Erwin Peyton, M.D.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Smeltzer Center, P O Box 8195, Gadsden, AL 35902 in Mrs. Killian’s memory.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
