Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband of 37 years, Mr. Sam Kirk; her brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Kim Lambert; sister-in-law, Mary Kirk Atkins; stepson, Stephen (Vickie) Kirk; grandsons, Sellers and Bo Kirk; granddaughters, Katie and Mollie Kirk; and great-grandson, Cooper Kirk. Numerous nieces and nephews also carry her memory forward as well as her constant companions, Lulu and Boots.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the physicians and nurses who provided Rebecca with extraordinary care throughout her journey: Peter Saway, M.D. of Rheumatology Associates in Birmingham; Andrew Langone, M.D. of Vanderbilt’s renal transplant team; Frank Malensek, M.D. of Southview Medical Group in Birmingham; and the compassion and care shown to both Rebecca and Sam by the MICU nurses and staff at Gadsden Regional Medical Center.
Lastly but certainly not least, the family holds the miracle of organ donation with profound reverence and are forever indebted to the generosity of the soul whose gift of life gave Rebecca several more years with her loved ones.
