

Funeral services will be at 11:00 Thursday, February 4, 2015 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Ruth S. Morgan, age 84, of Rainbow City, who passed away Monday, February 1, 2016. Rev. Larry Perkins will officiate. Burial will be at Williams-Southside Memorial Park. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mrs. Morgan was the owner and operator of Luke’s Barbeque for 15 years and then was owner and operator of the Panorama Restaurant and was then hired by Gadsden State Community College to run their cafeteria. During her 27 year career at GSCC, she was promoted to Director of Auxiliary Services. Her duties included running the cafeteria, bookstore and the dorm. In 1994 she received the Chancellors Award as Alabama Community College Administrator of the Year (she was the only Food Service Director to receive this award). Her reputation in the food service business was the best. She posted recipes in the “Messenger” and also had a cookbook. GSCC Cafeteria was known state wide as the place to eat.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou Stephens Cunningham; brothers, Junior Stephens,Hoyt Stephens and Ken Cunningham; and sister, Iva Blackwood.
She is survived by her son, Baker Morgan; daughter, Rita Morgan Ellis; sisters, Martha Frisby, and Kate Barnett; grandchildren, Brandon (Kara) Morgan, Paul, Katie, Rebecca and Mary Beth Ellis; great-grandsons, Alex Morgan and Killian O’Connell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be B.D. Watts, Chuck Prince, George Terrell, Casey Enoch, Will Lee, and Wes Lee.

The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 am prior to the service.
