

Ruth Jeanette Stinson, 79, of Gadsden, AL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 17, 2020. A funeral service will be held at 1pm, Wednesday, at Collier-Butler Chapel. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens in Trussville. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Stinson was born in Chicago, IL, on November 20, 1940, but grew up in Birmingham, AL. She got married to Richard Gordon Stinson on July 23, 1966 in Birmingham, AL. She and her husband served in ministry in Afghanistan and the United Arab Emerites. She and her husband also served in several churches in Alabama, after coming back to the U.S., before retiring. She was a musician and composer (even wrote a Cantata, which her church choir sang overseas), serving in church-music for decades. She enjoyed family, reading, music, and writing letters.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Gordon Stinson; father, Horace Marcellus Hinshaw; and mother, Stella Jeanette Hinshaw.
She is survived by her son, Nathan Gordon (Lisa) Stinson; daughters, Rachel Jeanette Stinson, and Rebekah Ruth (Scott) Chaplin of Missouri; grandchildren, MiKayla Sheyenne, Kendra Charmaine, Micah Scott, and Ruth Sophia.
The family will accept friends on Wednesday from 12:30pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home. There will also be a graveside visitation from 3:00pm until 3:30pm prior to the graveside service at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
