Sarah Steed

Funeral services will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 2 pm for Sarah Sizemore Steed, 86, who died Saturday, May 14, 2011. The Rev. Tommy Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery. Collier-Butler Funeral Home will direct services. Sarah was a kind and loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend and was loved by all that knew her. She was one of seven children born to Della Wagnon and Claude Sizemore, and a lifelong resident of Etowah County. She was a longtime member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, where she was active for many years. She loved spending time with her family on the river, fishing, and working in her yard. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Della and Claude Sizemore; by her husband of 49 years, Emanuel (Mack) Steed; her daughter Linda Rogers; granddaughter Lori Steed; great-grandson Andrew Ledbetter; brothers Jake and George Sizemore; and sisters Mabel Smith and Ruby Cassidy.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Steed Battles; granddaughter Angela Rogers and family; grandson Jake Battles; granddaughter Sarah Grace Battles; great grandsons Joshua Steed and family; Chase Wadsworth; brother John(Peggy) Sizemore; and sister Joyce Walker, as well as special nephew Stan (Pat) Cassidy, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be nephews and grandsons

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, May 16, 2011 from 6-8 PM.
