

Sharon “Joan” Cosper passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. She was born August 30, 1949 in Cullman, Alabama. As a child the family moved to Michigan where Joan later worked as a hospital phlebotomist. After returning to Alabama she worked as a caregiver.
Joan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence and Vallie Howse of Cullman; and her step-father Kinney Sutton.
She is survived by her daughter, Vallie Boike Petta; grandchildren, Nicholas Scott Petta and Natalie Kate Petta of Gadsden; mother, Mildred Howse Sutton of Gadsden; sisters, Patricia (Marvin) Lloyd of Roanoke, VA and Linda (Wayne) Till of Pataluma, CA; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Kelvin) Nunn of Huntsville, Todd (Lois) Lloyd of Roanoke, VA, Mark (Denise) Lloyd of Roanoke, VA, Sally Till of Scotland; aunts, Kay Howse Moore of Brandon, MS, and Myrl Howse of Cullman; uncle, L.P. Howse of Flint MI; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden. Visitation will be from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. Pastor Todd Walker will officiate. Interment will be at Duck River Baptist Church Cemetery, Cullman, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service is directing.
