

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday September, 5, 2014 at Collier-Butler Chapel for Thomas Edison Blake, 82, of Rainbow City who passed away Sunday, August 31, 2014. Rev. L. Dale Butler will officiate. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Wedowee, AL. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services is directing.
Mr. Blake held a Bachelors of Science in Education from Jacksonville State University and a Masters Degree in Education from George Peabody College in Nashville, TN. He taught Junior High School English for over 30 years in Florida and Illinois. During the Korean War he served four years in the Army. He was a loyal member of the Rainbow City Lions Club. He was a huge fan of girls high school sports as a result of his wife having coached them for three decades. A sports fan in general, he loved Alabama Football (ROLL TIDE!), the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls and Chicago Cubs. Most of all he LOVED sending care packages to the family, especially sending them to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Alice Faye Blake; parents, Thomas and Lucille Blake; brother, John Robinson Blake; Dear Aunt, Vera and Uncle Lumus Blake.
He is survived by his three sons, Thomas Craig (Laurie) Blake, Victor Bruce (Diane) Blake, and David Allen (John) Blake; grandchildren Kiki (Greg) Pauling, Ashley (John) Cann, Thomas Blake, Cheri (David) Brodsky, Jennifer (Michael) Frankes, and Charles (Andrew) Woyner; great-granddaughters, Spencer and Quinn Cann, and Natalie Brodsky; and great-grandson, Nathan Brodsky.
Pallbearers will be T. Craig Blake, Bruce Blake, David Blake, Thomas Blake, and Greg Pauling.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
