

Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Williams-Southside Memorial Park for Veda Kate Harris, age 90, of Gadsden, who went to her Heavenly Home Thursday, February 1, 2018. Rev. Bill Drummons will officiate. Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Services directing.
Veda was born January 5, 1928 in Jackson County and resided in Etowah County. She was a wonderful loving mother to her sons and was known to many for her great cooking, gardening and card-playing abilities. She worked 20 years for Command Performance.
Veda was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Robert L. Harris; parents, Emmett and Maude Barber; sisters, Mary Grace Maynor, Pauline Brooks, Annie Lee Plyler, and Lina Hatfield; and brother, Joe Barber.
She is survived by her sons, Randy (Sharron) Harris, and Calvin (Linda) Harris; grandchildren, Marcus (Meagan) Harris, Katy (Jonathan) Copeland, Tighe (Courtney) Harris, and Josh (Ali) Nichols; great-grandchildren, Isaac and Parker Harris, Kenzie, Cassie, and Sadie Copeland, Graham Harris, Zoie and Luke Nichols, and Ayden Pyburn; great-great-grandchild, Aidah Harris; and special niece, Eileen Rowe.
Special thanks to her canasta group for their many years of friendship; Karen Harris; and caregiver, Scarlett Latham.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
