Joyce served in the US Navy during WWII. He retired in 1990 from Goodyear Gadsden. For the last 16 years, he enjoyed spending the winter months in Sun City Center, Florida. Gadsden was his home but he relocated to Hoover 4 years ago to be near family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Walker Partain, father, James Robert Partain, mother, Emma Idell Partain, and brother, Robert Ewell Partain. Surviving loved ones include his wife of 69 years, Helen Vice Partain, daughters, Beth (Bobby) Kilgore and Sheree (Gordon) McBryde, 3 grandchildren, Christi Partain, Phillip (Caitlin) McBryde, and Mary Beth McBryde, 2 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Collier Butler Funeral Home, Gadsden, Al, Friday, November 24 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 with Rev. Roger Graham officiating. Burial will be at Crestwood Cemetery.
