Craig, known by everyone as “Bulldog,” was born on September 3, 1972, at Fort McClellan in Alabama. He lived a life marked by organization, precision, and a personality that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.
He graduated from Gaston High School, where he excelled in baseball and was recognized as a talented player with opportunities to continue at the collegiate level. His love for the game never faded, and he remained a lifelong baseball fan, especially as a devoted supporter of Dale Murphy.
Bulldog spent over 21 years in Atlanta, Georgia, working as a telecommunications manager at Kennesaw State University. Later in life, he returned to Alabama, where he continued his strong, organized, and perfectionist work ethic at JSW Farms with Scott Whitt.
He was known for his meticulous nature. Everything had a place, a system, and a standard. He took pride in doing things the right way (his way) and being the best at whatever he set his mind to. If you knew Bulldog, you knew his favorite color was gray—his wardrobe was proof of that. Whether it was organizing, working, or pursuing his hobbies, he approached life with unmatched attention to detail.
Bulldog found joy in the things he loved most: spending time with his family and his lifelong friends, Jeff “JG” Gilchrist, Michael “Bubba” Strain and Shane “Chap” Chappell. He also shared a special bond with his niece, Taylor, who held a special place in his heart. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, RC cars, and playing golf, but most of all, organizing and cleaning.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Belinda Vinyard; his father, Bill Mitchell; and his stepfather, Bill Vinyard.
Bulldog is survived by his sister, Pam Gilchrist (Jeff); his stepbrother, Ben Vinyard (Julie); and his nieces and nephews, Taylor Gilchrist, Dylan Gilchrist (Caydance), Hunter Brand (Tiffany), Noah Jones, and Kennedy Vinyard.
“Bulldog” will be remembered for his strong personality, his dedication to the things he loved, and the lasting impact he had on those around him. His presence was one that could never be overlooked, and his memory will not be forgotten.
A Memorial Visitation will be held at Collier-Butler Funeral Home, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden, AL 35901, on April 11, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
