

Benny attended and graduated from North High School in Clintonville, Ohio in 1979. Benny worked as a quality control inspector in the mechanics industry currently at Industrial Fabricators, but his true passion was music and has worked professionally as a musician since the age of 18, serving as the frontman and guitarist in multiple bands spanning several decades.
Benny started out playing music in Delaware, Ohio and was a proud member of Southpaw and later moved on to form the Columbus, Ohio based bands The Freebooters and Smokin and Drinkin.
Benny was an outdoorsman, hunter, went on multiple caving expeditions in the Kentucky region. He was an avid reader. Western enthusiast and history aficionado. His talents included, but were certainly not limited to musician, singer, song writer, and all round gifted artist. But most importantly "professional cowboy" and semi-professional pirate.
Above all else, Benny was a family man. He was a proud grandfather, father, husband, son, brother, and friend.
Benny was survived by his wife and best friend Seona (Smith) of 40 years and their children Zackery (Carolyn) Yochum and Cassandra (Thomas) Cheadle. His parents Susan (Susie) and Giles Yochum. His sister Jackie Sancho, nephew Jonathan and proceeds his brother David Yochum in death. His grandchildren Carsyn Hoy, Lane Yochum, Cambria Cheadle and Clara Cheadle. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and deeply loved by many friends and family.
A memorial service will be held for Benny at Schoedinger-Margarum Northeast on January 9th, 4:00pm with a visitation from 5:00pm-7:00pm.
