Charles Dee Wood

Charles "Joe" Dee Wood, Jr., 76, of New Albany, passed away on March 7, 2022. He was born in West Portsmouth, Ohio on June 30, 1945 to Charles Dee Wood, Sr., and Lona (Clay) Wood, who both preceded him in death.

Joe earned a bachelor's degree from Ohio University and his Master's in Education from Xavier University. He went on to teach at Gahanna Lincoln High School where he also coached the Girls' Soccer team. Joe was also the first Boys' Soccer coach for New Albany High School and is an inductee of the New Albany High School Hall of Fame.

Joe's greatest achievement, however, was his marriage of 54 years to the love of his life and best friend, Martha. In his free time, Joe loved to travel and watch sports, especially the 2021- 2022 Cincinnati Bengals.

Joe will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Martha (Bergman) Wood; children, Jeremiah (Ashley) Wood and Jason (Courtney) Wood; grandchildren, Cooper, Grayson, Emerson, and Morgan; and siblings, Sheila Lang and William Wood.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 14, 2022 from 10-11am at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST FUNERAL HOME, 1051 E Johnstown Rd, Gahanna. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at the funeral home at 11am.
